GeoSpatial Portal will be offline 10/14, 10/21

The NC OneMap Team has two upgrades scheduled for the next two Fridays (10/14 and 10/21). This will require that the GeoSpatial Portal be taken offline from 5-8pm. In preparation, we are also going to disable the download imagery functionality starting at 4pm both days. We're doing this to try and avoid someone making a download request and it getting dropped during the upgrades.

In case your interested, the upgrades include an update to the GeoSpatial Portal software that will allow us to more efficiently manage the application. Also, it will improve the processing required to package the imagery into a zip file. Finally, we will be upgrading VMWare (virtual machine software) that runs the system. Both of these upgrades will improve the capacity and speed at which we can service your requests.

Adobe Flex based applications sometimes need to connect to information, services, or resources on other websites or domains. Security vulnerabilities typically prevent this unless special permission is granted by the server providing the resource. The NC OneMap servers also employ this protection but there is a way to gain access.

Post-Irene Imagery Now Time Enabled

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has flown damaged areas of the Outer Banks due to hurricane Irene multiple times. That data is now time enabled and is available as an image service.

We've recently added the ability to check the status of OGC (wms, wfs) and ArcIMS based map services to the Geospatial Portal. Now you can check if a service is available directly from the search results.

More Map Services Added

The GIS folks at NC Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services/Emergency Programs have been busy. They are bringing us 2 more WMS map services - USGS 1998 CIR DOQQs and USGS DRGs. Both are available from the NC OneMap map service discovery page. Thanks to Dan Madding and Ed Shipman for providing these.

Four More NAIP WMS Services Added to NC OneMap

In addition to the three WMS map services for NAIP imagery that we added in January, the Department of Agriculture has provided four more WMS map services to NC OneMap. With these new services there is now NAIP imagery for 1998, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 in either true color or infrared (IR). Check them out using the new map services discovery page. Enter the search term "NAIP."

Discovering Map Services Just Got Easier

Have you gotten tired of searching a static html table for NC OneMap map services? Well, so have we. That's why we upgraded the Map Services Page so that you can now search for layers by keyword(s). Users can now also see whether the WMS map service is currently available, view the capabilities of the map service, and preview the layer.

NAIP Imagery for 2008, 2009 Now Available

We've recently added three new WMS map services for NAIP imagery. There are services for 2008 and 2009. There is also a map service that has NAIP 2010 true color overlaid with higher resolution county imagery. Check them out using the new map services discovery page.
